Parametrization & Optimization Intro

Look at a redesign of the connecting rod we previously did in this video:

Goodday sir, i noticed that while simulating, fusion 360 automatically started simulating on cloud..i need it locally..any help on this?

  2. oafak says:

Gab is correct; just before you press the button to begin your simulation, you will see the options on the top of the page: On the left, “On cloud”, and to its right, “Locally”. What happened to you was that the default was “On Cloud” and you did not change that.
I will think that simulating on Cloud with be the regular as your computer will not likely be able to do much locally if the problem is sufficiently realistic.

    Good morning sir.
The results from my simulation is quite different from what’s in the video. And why did you choose the X and z axis for the structural loads?

Good morning sir, I am confused about the symmetry plane option under the shape optimization drop down. The option was used in the auto desk shape optimization video and I would like to know it’s function and relevance to the simulation result

It is possible for you to use symmetry to reduce your drawing in the model space. The facility in the simulation space works similarly. If you are more comfortable with the model space, do your symmetry reduction there. You can use symmetry to reduce only if both loading AND geometrical symmetries are present. It is a good practice to repeat the simulation whole and see that results are similar.
